Stockton Cargo Opens 2026 Season
Stockton Cargo SC will take the pitch once more this summer after tearing through the USL W-League’s Northern California division in 2025. The newly-crowned Queens of NorCal open their season in Monterrey on the 9th of May, before taking on San Juan SC at home at Saint Mary’s High School on the 16th.
Stockton’s club has established itself as one of the premier pro-development squads in the country, racking up victory after victory last summer en route to division domination and a berth in the W-League Playoffs. They have also become one of the league’s most exciting, earning the nickname “Cardiac Cargo” due to their frequent late-game heroics and their efficiency in the attacking third, scoring goals at a rate matched by few other teams.
The Cargo attack was led last season by Mika Sayfurahman, who finished with eleven goal contributions, alongside teammates San Tristan and Vanessa Penuna, who found the back of the net six times each. The Cargo’s ability to split defenses by distributing the ball has led to on most diverse scoring profiles in the league, with eleven different players netting goals in division play. Faced with a front line full of scoring potential but lacking an isolatable star, W-League defenses have struggled to contain the Cargo, who finished top-five in the league in goals-scored.
One of the perils of success for the Cargo will be that, after their undefeated regular-season campaign, Stockton’s starting eleven will lose three key pieces for 2026. Tristan, Penuna, and Haley Bostart will be taking their talents overseas after signing professional contracts with Pecsi MFC, Atlas FC, and Panetolikos, respectively.
The tradition of women’s soccer excellence continues to be built in Stockton. In an underdog city so hungry for success, it is only fitting that our soccer team be the same.
