Indoor Rainy Fall Day Activities

Indoor Productivity
Cold weather is particularly unique because it is a predominant weather climate that occurs twice a year. It comes when the year begins, and it is there when the year ends. The sprinkles of chilly conditions start during the fall season. Though not exclusive to fall, chances of rain are greater during this season. Despite the weather suggesting to stay indoors, productive activities remain accessible.
Cooking is an activity that lends itself to when it is recommended to stay indoors. Cooking is also a necessary life skill for when budgeting becomes tough. Taking one big trip to buy ingredients will likely cost much less than ordering out everyday. The level of cooking does not have to be at a mastery level. During these times, it provides the perfect opportunity to practice cooking skills or try a new recipe. In the Fall, pumpkin or apple related recipes would be fitting. Regardless of which one is decided, it remains an activity with active participation that should hopefully pass the time.
Reading is the following activity that comes naturally when staying indoors. In a technologically-advanced world, it is easy to forget how valuable reading is for developing the brain. Technology is not without its benefits; many books can be read on a device. That said, reading allows the opportunity to calm the mind, set focus towards one thing, and assist with visualizing images through text. To kill time at home, putting together a reading list would be wise.
Art is an additional activity that involves productivity on a rainy day in the fall. The greatest benefit with art is the strong creative freedom. Art could perhaps come in the form of writing personal down thoughts or a story. Creating an arts and crafts project is also an option. Pumpkin decorating/painting is fairly popular in the fall, as well as leaf rubbing, and crafting miniature fall trees. There is bead bracelet making, drawing with colored utensils, and crafting objects with paper, to list a few. Using supplies and resources found in a home opens the window that sparks creativity.
The final activity is watching a new movie or TV show. An individual could make the argument that this activity contradicts the purpose of productivity when all attention is being shifted toward a screen. However, when the attention is directed at something the individual has not experienced before, it could activate specific thinking skills. They think about the writing, acting, and visuals. All of which are subtle yet intentional details that make up the image they witness. Similar to books, creating a watchlist of films, shows, or both, will benefit the observational skills through new viewing experiences.
Despite cold weather limiting the amount of time that can be spent outside, much can be done to keep the brain active indoors. The sunlight-weathered spring and summer seasons offer many occasions to participate in outdoor activities, however being forced to stay indoors could flip a detriment into a benefit. Even when trapped in a metaphorical box, it branches off into possibilities of igniting a creative mind.
