Decreasing the Weight of Pressure

Stress presents one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome not only for students at University of the Pacific, but for everyone. At some point, people must complete multiple tasks by a deadline, which ultimately creates stress. This article intends to explore various methods that effectively manage stress. These methods remain easy to understand, and make stress more manageable.

The first and arguably most well-known technique is breathing exercises. Hyperventilating is a natural impulse response many people experience when they feel overwhelmed. When someone becomes overwhelmed, it clouds their judgment and prevents clear thinking. Taking time to cool down by breathing slowly makes it easier to brainstorm a solution. This technique allows individuals control of their thoughts and reduces stress effectively.

People do not usually mention physical activity as a method to manage stress. Despite this, physical exercise can greatly reduce stress in the mind. When the body moves actively, the individual focuses less on previous concerns. The body remains focused on the activity itself. This method does not need to be physically demanding to be effective. Even pacing up and down can reduce stress levels. Physical activity is a method successful in distracting the mind from stress.

Time management plays a crucial role in achieving goals. It is not difficult to believe that everybody, especially Pacific students, remain busy. With that in mind, stress creates fear of missing deadlines. This fear can lead to overworking and eventually burnout. To avoid this outcome, individuals should place brakes in their schedules.

The final method that helps manage stress is alone time. Typically when individuals feel overwhelmed, spending time alone encourages self-reflection. This solitude removes external pressures and distractions. Although not required, listening to music during alone time can help reduce stress. This method works well for many people and deserves consideration.

Although stress remains unavoidable, managing it is critical to maintaining focus on goals. Every working individual and enrolled student has a tight schedule. However, staying mentally and physically balanced matters most for long-term success. To reiterate, individuals cannot permanently eliminate stress. That said, finding the right coping mechanisms will increase the chances of success.
