Methods of Organization For a Pacific Student

Every Placement, Places it’s Purpose

So much is to be taken into consideration in the life of students enrolled at University of the Pacific. With a minimum of 12 units on a student’s plate each semester, it becomes common to lose sight of what is important. Remembering all that has to be done is a crucial aspect of life, not just for students, for everyone. Using methods of organization can greatly become beneficial in memory and increase a student's chances to succeed. The methods presented in this article are not particularly complex, however simplicity can be equally effective.

A student’s schedule mostly consists of events they have to attend throughout the day. Creating a schedule of what a typical class day should help the student remember what each day is like, preferably on a printed out calendar or on a smart device. That said, every day is not weighed equally when it comes to the significance of that day. Marking important dates, such as exams or personal events, will go a long way in preparing for that specific day. With a schedule already set, students will not forget what needs to be done.

Academics are the whole point of attending a college, especially one like Pacific. Taking one course at a time is not especially difficult. It becomes a challenge, however, when a student takes multiple courses simultaneously. No amount of organization will fully abolish stress in college. With this in mind, there are certain organization methods that can relieve the stress. Those include keeping an individual notebook for each class, a folder to keep track of physical assignments, and a calendar to keep track of when assignments are due. If a student does not excel in education, the student is less likely to graduate.

It is easy for students to get notes mixed up when taking several courses across potentially multiple different subjects. Having more than one notebook will come in handy. Accessing notes from class lectures will be much less complicated to navigate through. Students who take notes on digital sites such as Pages or Google Docs, also have ways to stay organized. Pages permits you to create folders where your documents can be stored in one place for a singular subject. Google Docs, on the other hand, does not quite offer this feature. Despite this, both allow the user to name their documents and search for them later. With the student’s crucial work all in one place, none of it will get lost or disorganized.

Though many assignments are turned in digitally this era, physical assignments have not vanished entirely. Even before digital became the status quo, it was not uncommon for students to carelessly toss their homework in their backpack. Doing that made the homework forgotten about, damaged, or lost. Owning a binder to carry all of the important paper hand outs makes the assignments harder to lose.

It can get frustrating as a student to have so much on the mind. It is also not as simple as it may look to remain organized. It takes some time to really settle with all the steps necessary to guarantee everything is in the right place. Knowing important dates ahead of time and having the right materials ready will lead to a successful path.
