Give back “clothes and stuff” to your local shelter
It’s approaching that time of year again — when Stockton’s temperatures reach a bone-chilling cold. Imagine living on the streets during this winter’s El Niño and not having a jacket, or perhaps being stranded outside in a minimal amount of clothing.
Unfortunately, a number of homeless individuals in the Stockton community will be in that situation if they don’t receive the clean, warm clothing they need. Thanks to the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless, many of these individuals are given resources and proper necessities that will help get them off the streets. Nevertheless, the shelter can’t do it without the help of the Stockton community.
So here’s your chance, Tigers, to give back to those in need! Tomorrow, Nov. 13, through Nov. 14-15, students from the community-based learning course in the Communication Department will be holding a “Clothes and Stuff” donation drive from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. next to Burns Tower.
There you can donate any new or lightly used coats, sweatshirts, shirts, pants, socks, sports bras, children’s clothes, shoes, scarves, basically anything clothing, along with various hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, towels, feminine products, diapers, etc.
They will not be accepting any clothes with holes or stains on them, nor will they take any hygiene products that are dirty, used or opened. This is your opportunity to support the community by helping people stay warm this season. So come out and help out this event, your local shelter and most importantly those in need this winter!
